The Magical World of Roger Whittaker

Had this as a kid

Had this as a kid

Well, I had one of those nostalgic moments last night. I remembered this album that my sister and myself listened to over and over on an old fisher Price record player (way before iPhones kiddos), The Magical World of Roger Whittaker.

Well I got it in my head that this should be easy to track down now days. I was wrong. NO ONE sells this anymore. This album was published in 1975 on vinyl and 8-track only.

Well after a bit of tricky dealings, I got me a copy of the US vinyl on MP3s.

It’s funny how something so simple triggers so many memories. I have a hard time remembering what happened yesterday, but when it comes to music it can help me recall things from 35 years ago.

  1. Ron, I just stumbled upon your blog while searching for Roger Whittaker’s childrens album. THANK YOU for posting this! It made me so happy to listen and recall my childhood. My father passed away in 2006 and he loved Roger Whittaker. Listening to this album brought me back to my childhood and my dad. I wonder – would you mind sharing the cd with me? I can’t find any legit sites online from which to download the music, and I would so love to have this to listen in the car with my little one. Let me know if this is possible – I would be ever so grateful.

I own the LP for this album, and last year my best friend bought this album for me on cassette tape. I have completely remastered it and I am willing to share it with others. I use messenger programs so feel free to check out my Youtube channel and send me a message if anyone would be willing to hear this album in CD sound since I am very good with digitalizing music albums 🙂

Wow, this was an album that me & my brother listened to all the time when we were growing up, we had it on cassette, and I’m pretty sure I still have the original floating around here somewhere. Bill–As a teacher, I am trying to orchestrate “Nasty Spider” for Orff instruments for my elementary students. it is REALLY hard to arrange music for kids when you can’t find a copy for yourself! please please please drop me a line at briannemcneely@gmail.com if you’re willing to share your digitalized version!

    Nick.

  11. Just another happy camper here too – thanks so very very much! I would have bought whatever songs I could legitimately, but they are all geo-blocked for me, so what are we supposed to do?
I too have many happy memories of Roger – he felt like part of the family! And now I can introduce my 11 month old son to him too 🙂

    • That’s awesome to hear. Be sure to visit Rogers’s website and request this be re-released. They did start talking about it a few years ago. They just need to know we are interested.

  12. I have been looking for a roger wittaker song every where and i cant find it, and i have found some of the songs i wanted. the song i cant find was on a tape cassette but i cant remember the track title, i was wondering if you knew of any other kids songs he has sang?
also i was wondering if i could download these songs you have from somewhere?

    • I am not aware of any songs not mentioned on this post. I know he has done tons of other stuff. If you find it, share it with us!

If you read down the article, I have a section called download. You should be able to get the album there. I am not able to provide direct copies for obvious legal reasons. Take care.

  13. I just posted a request on his site to rerelease this album. I sing winkin blinkin and nod to my girls every night. I have fond memories of my brother and sisters and I dancing to this album every night. I wish I could share it with my girls!

    • At the bottom of my article is a section called download. While I can’t make it any easier without getting into legality issues, it’s rather easy. I can answer any questions you have one that.

  14. I just wanted to add to the list! I have been searching for this for years. I found a copy on ebay once. I gave it to someone that said they could put it on a cd and then they lost it! So happy to even have a tiny part of my childhood remembered. Also happy to discover I am not the only one that loved it!

  15. Wow, I tought I was the only person to have ever owned this! Loved it as a kid, but my mean sister threw it away years ago. Upon getting older and a little wiser she found it in a car boot sale and bought it back for me!
