The Skunk Ape is a hominid cryptid said to inhabit the Southern United States. Wikipedia
My name is Ron Gallant and on the trail I am known as Skunkape. I have been an avid outdoorsman for over 30 years. Much of that was spent in the remote wilderness of the island of Newfoundland in North Eastern Canada. During time with the Canadian Armed forces I trained in Winter Survival and RECCE and became an expert in map and compass. Recently I spend much of my time exploring the swamps and forest of the South East. The Appalachian trail is a favorite of mine and spend much of the cooler months there.

My first memory of the outdoors is from when I was about five. On the way to the campground with trailer in tow, my father stopped into a general store and we picked out a pocket knife. It was a Victorinox Swiss army. I still have the knife and the memories. This began two of my passions. The outdoors and outdoor gear. I spent most of my life exploring the outdoors. Hiking and backpacking and of course, gear. My experience ranges from military, bushcrafting and ultralight hiking. I recently have moved off the ground and became a tree dweller. Hammocks are the way to go. I hope to share some of my knowledge and learning with you. Please let me know in the comments if I am doing OK or not.
